Crank position and cam position on the 3.5L is "HALL EFFECT" sensor.. the sebsor sports 3 wires,, PWR, GND, SIGNAL...
key on,,, the blade toggles the sensor to send a 0-5-0-5-0-5-0-5 volt square wave to PCM..
Best way to inspect is with a scope where you can watch wave form toggle to see that sensor good,, after verifying sensor has needed power & ground
