My crankshaft pulley came apart (harmonic balancer) and I am unable to remove what is left? I was able to get the nut off but the remainder of the pulley is pulling the timing gear out of the crankcase when I try to remove it? It looks like there is a roll pin attaching the pulley to the gear but no setscrew or anything. Any help on how to remove the pulley?

Hey there,

Probably way too late to help you out, but maybe someone else will find this.

I had the same issue as you with our Kia Rondo. Harmonic balancer came apart, also broke off the oil pressure switch. Anyway, I purchased a steel punch, can't remember the exact size. A couple whacks on the roll pin and the reminents of the balancer popped off. Kinda stupid design if you ask me. What's wrong with some sort of slot key, like parallel or Woodruff? Anyway, hope this helps someone.

Curt
