Yesterday (Sunday) morning, as I was leaving work, my check engine light came on. About a mile later I pulled off the road and checked the gas cap. I took it off and made sure it was re-installed correctly. CEL stayed on. Had to drive it back to work Sunday night. This morning I was in line at the service department when they opened at 7:30. It was caused by code P0455 Purge Evap Emission Leak. I spoke with the tech when he brought my car back around. He stated that I was a history code, not an active one. He performed a leak test and it passed. Also stated that if it came back in they would need the car longer to perform a more conclusive leak test. He also said that if it came back in solid that I could still drive the car without issue, that if the CEL was flashing it would mean there was eminent catalytic converter damage. Crossing my fingers it was a one time deal since I go on vacation this Friday.

Before Oct 2011 P0455 Purge Evap Emission Leak was a common occurrence that most of us experienced until they came out with a better part. My wife drove from Memphis to San Diego with the CEL on steady without any problems. Make sure and get your ECU Update so your car will perform better when you get back from your vacation. I realize you have a 2012 but that code was very common with the early 2011 buyers.

Thanks for the link to the previous thread. Very helpful. I already got the ECU update performed in July. Took car on a trip from FLorida to Cleveland, OH and back after the update. Overall MPG (via fuelly without 3% correction) is 37.8 mpg. My current tank was averaging almost 46 mpg (via trip computer) for just over 1/4 tank. I have a 23 mile, mostly highway with 5 or 6 lights/stop signs, each way commute. Once the CEL/MIL came on my average has dropped to 44 with same driving habit and commute. Coincidence? Maybe.

Same CEL and error code on my 2011. Replaced NVLD sensor 2X already in the past months (only happened since 55k miles for me; I never had the NVLD issue early on that some other early owners have had), it's in the shop this week for 48 hours for the hybrid tech to replace/diagnose further. Apparently our evap check system is unique since it only runs at night. This is why the CEL turns on in the morning. Ny hybrid tech states mine's not the only sonata hybrid with this issue. For me, it turns on whenever there's a very cool morning after a very hot day. Please let me know if your dealer finds a solution.

A not on EVAP CEL indicators - if the issue is an improperly sealed gas cap, the light will typically come on at the first indication of EVAP test failure. If you re-seal the gas cap, it can take 2 or 3 driving cycles on the engine for the light to clear. That may be why you had a "historical" code but still had the CEL on - you re-seated the gas cap, but hadn't put enough driving cycles on the ECU to clear the light. Service tech should have cleared the historical code which also resets the light. Hopefully that takes care of the issue!
