Caught this one this morning with an A118 (obviously watch with the highest quality possible)./QUOTE]Accident video is unbelievable. the camera quality, to me, is outstanding. I may have found the model I'm looking for in the next several months.
Couldn't get over the definition of the picture. Which is what I am looking for. I want whomever watches it (police?), to be able to clearly see the well-defined road problem.
One question, kelmar. Well, a couple of questions: Happy with this? Have you considered an upgrade? Or, leaving well enough alone? Thoughts and honest evaluations much appreciated.

Yes, mostly happy (for the price paid). I've considered upgrades; something with a bit higher night visibility (not that this is bad... and I don't really drive at night too much), capacitor instead of a battery, wifi (so I can send it directly to my phone), etc. However, for what I paid (and the research behind it) I felt that this was the best option for my money (and what I was willing to spend) and would do it again.
The camera? I have Garmin Virb Elite, I bought it when it first came out. Now I think its a lot cheaper than when it first came out.
I like it a lot, I got the Elite instead of GoPro because of the GPS chip and sensors. Mainly I bought it for my cycling needs but once in awhile I mounted in side my cars or ATV.
I really like the editing program that came with it. As it allowed me to overlay all data on my video such as speed, elevation, G-froce or my cadence / hear rate etc...
I got about 2 hrs battery life and about 5 hrs+ with 64GB SD card with 1080P @ 30 fps.
Recently purchased "The Original Dash Cam - Cyclops".
I like that it is small, light weight and does not obstruct my field of vision much.
Powered by the plug-in 12v adapter/charger (not hard wired).
1.5" LCD screen, Auto on/off, Anti-shake, Cyclic recording, G-sensor, 120° wide angle lens, Car charger, USB cable, Windshield mount with dash plate, and a 32GB memory card. $59.95 (tax & shipping included).
Very similar to the one ImStricken reviewed on page 1, post 9 of this thread.
I bought the same model with the GPS. Way better then base model as you get Date, Time, Speed and GPS embedded into video. Have great shot of deer hitting my car (it hit me chasing a doe) with one. Mine is still plugged into the lighter. Keeps running for 4 min after car is off, or should power fail. I'm having trouble with the 32Gb no name card it came with. Been in touch with Garmin, they have an update that is suppose to fix the "your card is not formatted" after a few days. Been there did that. I swapped it with a 16Gb with no problem. Bought a name brand 32Gb and 4 days later the "format" problem again. I reinstalled the update, I'll see.
Just remember... it records sound too ! So that guy cut you off and playing it back and ...... dad...did you just say that ! !
I picked up one when 10 months ago I almost got toasted. Someone on a nearing dark evening pulled right out in front of me in the middle of nowhere. The Dash Cam would show my direction was NOT on and would have been totally their fault. I bought this and added LED DRL strip to both cars.
I ran my wires so everything looks nice and tidy but still use the lighter. I see no reason to hardwire mine as it only will make it look a little better. I have my cam to delay off after 20 seconds.
