Re front brakes for my Trajet (year, etc, under my forum username).

So looking on eBay for brake pads for the front disc. Nearly all of them (the cheap ones) are advertised as rear pads. Are the rear pads the same, ie are they interchangeable? I've looked at the pics, and they seem the same shape.

Also, is it advisable to purchase separate brake pad shims?

Thanks.

Well, rear pads are generally smaller than front pads, so the rears will be cheaper.
Look at the more expensive ones and you should find the ones for the front.

They definitely wont be interchangeable.

Ok, thanks all. Also, do you have to replace the rotors every time you change the pads?

Certainly depends on condition/thickness of rotors. If causing vibration/ pulsations in pedal whens stopping, or under minimum thickness, replace, otherwise your good to go.
