I flunked inspection today on my 2013 Elantra because my driver side brake light does not work when I turn on headlights. It works fine when the headlights are off. Changed bulb and that solved nothing.

Thank you for your guidance.

Sounds like a bad earth to that light. There might be a grounding point inside the car near the light.. Check that and also inside the bulb holder for corrosion.

With everything said, is it all an entirely stock configuration? Standard halogen / incandescent lamps, with nothing changed? Seems like anything changed out on these "modern" electrical systems (not limited to Hyundai either) irritates the **** out of the BCM. 😟
