Had an issue where the gear display would go blank after a bang. The light came on after the second time it happened but this morning, several days later, it was off. I'm scheduled for a dealer visit and don't want to hear the no problem crap.

Codes set do not go away unless somebody go in and manually erase them...

Not 100% sure about Hyundais but on many cars they will get erased if the problem doesn't happen again for some period of time. Think that usually takes quite a long time though.

Yup, found out today they stay in there for quite a long time. They found the transmission range switch code that set, but they also found an O2 code, which was probably from when the light came on a couple months ago, but went off after I played with the gas cap. Talk about coincidence with that one.

Non-fatal codes will allow light to turn off, but code is stored until manually erased with scan tool, may randomly illuminate MIL
