Just wondering if anyone here has used Inviscord to hardwire their radar detectors. Thinking about ordering one. I want to hardwire my radar, using the mirror connections.

I used the Mirror tap by Sonic Electronix and the Mirror Mount both found on Ebay and am very happy with both. Be sure to get the longest wire for the mirror tap. The connection for the mirror tap is at the passenger side toward the rear of the mirror. If you put the wire under the wire cover down to the mirror mount on the windshield you will need the longest wire, 20 inch. Measure and get a little longer.

I don't see a 20 inch offered anymore on Ebay. How hard was the wire tap? Do you remember which colors you tapped into? I'm thinking about keeping the radar (escort 9500ix) right under the sun strip of the windshield, sticking by the suction cups. I would like the mirror mount, but I don't want it on full display, especially without tinted windows.

If you have pics of the install, could you please post some? Thanks!

Sorry, but I don't have a picture at the moment of the completed installation but I will see if I can post one tomorrow. Tapping into the mirror plug is very simple, just follow instructions with the wire tap. There are long cords from other companies on ebay which are basically the same with the built in fuse. If you bring the cord out where the liner ends then a shorter cord would work but I wanted a cleaner look and put the cord under the tube that comes with the wire all the way to where the mirror mounts. If you do a search here you will find how to remove the overhead lights...very easy. I went with the mirror mount because the suction cups never stayed up. The mirror mount is quite adjustable.

This was a really quick and easy thing to do with my V1 radar it took about 5 minutes and I was on the road. If you have a sunroof... Just unscrew the sunglass holder there should be two screws when you flip it down. Pull the some light out of the headliner. There is a plug in the center. I just used the kit that came with my radar. Tapped into green wire and black for ground and it powers on and off with my car!
