I have been driving 2013 SFS for a month, and this unidentified noise is driving me nuts

I even considered selling my one-month-old SFS for this noise...

Whenever I drive on the uneven road, I keep hearing the noise in the video.

You might need to increase the volume to hear them.

It sounds like two parts hitting or rubbing each other, and I can hear it with sunroof open/closed and even music on.

I tried to record the noise, but it's not as easy to record it properly :( It's not a loud noise, but more of extremely annoying noise. :( :( :(

I went to the dealership, but they just keep saying either "we don't hear it" or "we can try removing the dashboard/headliner, but that might cause even more noise, so just drive it."

Is anyone else having the same noise??? God Please help me pinpoint where the noise is coming from :(

I tried to pin point the sound so many times, but no help! :(

One more useless dealership, is there even a point buying new with those jerks not taking care of problems?

You're not the only one with that problem. I started a thread about a year ago search for "creaking dash". I have taken the car to the dealership a few times but every time it fails to make the noise. It seems to be more prominent in colder temps. Extremely annoying problem.apparently a felt pad was improperly or not installed during assembly.

Is that the known dashboard squeak? Search for that thread, lots of info there.
done search for hours and hours already. i wouldn't waste my time recording a video, uploading it to youtube, and posting here if i found the answer from other threads.

We've had the SFS for about a month now and so far no noise similar to the one you described.

Finally fixed the interior squeaky noise!

I had this really annoying squeaky noise for a while, and the dealership was useless. Everything I visited, they always said "sorry we can't pin point the issue."

I was sure that it was from somewhere around the passenger side, but just couldn't figure out exactly where.

Today, I decided to try the silicone lubricant spray. So I went to the store to grab a bottle of WD-40 Specialist Silicone Spray Lubricants.

I then sprayed it on every possible spots where two pieces were put together and could cause the noise.

then TA-DA! the noise is all gone. I'm not sure how long it will last without the noise, but at least I'm happy now that I fixed something dealership couldn't!!

Why did you create a new thread instead of adding the solution to the thread you mentioned the issue a couple of days ago? Makes it easier for people to see how you dealt with it.

I apologize.. :( I'm still new to the forum

Could you be a little more specific on where you sprayed? This could help others who are experiencing similar noises.
John
Hello John, I will try taking pictures and indicate where I sprayed after work tomorrow! I hope this will help others :)

Great idea! Sorry you had to experience such annoyance. I had a rattle in the rear for a few months and it drove me crazy!!! I took everything out of the car and it still rattled. Couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Then I finally f'ng saw my kid's car seat and thought, hmm...cheap plastics and metal galore, let me take a look...and as soon as i started to remove it, it made the same rattle noise as I've noticed before! Ta da! But I had to put it back so our lil guy can ride...:(

Since we're on the subject of noises...
Hi, Marcel here from the Netherlands, driving the SFS 2.4 GDI AWD. Have been following this forum for months now. Thanks for all the good posts!

The noise which is bothering me is coming from the sunroof. When i drive an uneven road there's a ticking sound coming from the front right of the sunroof. When i open the roof and i put my hand on the metal plate just under the windscreen (or should i say flyscreen) it stops. When i losen the screws a bit it goes away for a week or so, after which the noise returns.
And yes, the ticking noise can be heard when the roof is closed or opened. However, when the sunshade is closed it can't be heard anymore.

Went to the dealer, the greased the rails, but didn't work of course.
Anyone else recognize this?

Does the WD-40 Specialist Silicon Spray have an odor? Everyone in my household is extremely allergic to smells. I've had this noise from day one and it drives me crazy.

There is a Technical bulletin on the Hyundai USA site that may help with your situation the web site is https://www.hyundaitechinfo.com

09-BD-011 is the bulletin number dated September 2009 however it is listed under the 2013 Santa Fe list of bulletins.

There is a lot of info on the site.

I hope this helps.

I've added to some threads on here about ticking/rattle noises - and i'm really starting to get sick of it. My 2005 Jeep with 200k on it didn't rattle.. and my brand new SFS won't stop rattling.
I've never had the dash creeking... but I've had the rear hatch rattle (adjusted the rubber hatch bumpers - fixed). I've had the sunroof ticking/rattle - only on COLD days - not much you can do with a glass roof/matal track and body it's attached to.. it's going to flex, and since it's not continuous, I can handle it.

What I can't stand... is the non-stop rattle coming from the "passenger door armrest area" - which i've brought it into the dealer twice, and they've fluffed it off both times - "didn't hear anything". There is one other post about them finally finding out the issue - that the door wasn't sitting right on the striker, and the door/striker had to be fixed at an auto-body shop to correct it....
I don't think my dealer is going to go for that... i'm hoping someone else finds another fix...

Then on top of that.. yesterday for the first time, another noise - I'm 99% sure it was the leather seat (rear drivers) rubbing against the middle section - and making a noise - very similar to the video on this page. My passenger door armrest area noise is more of a high pitch rattle... this deeper rattle/sqeaking sounds like my seats rubbing together...

The seat squeaking went away today... but that dang door rattle is constant....
NOW WHAT?!
