My apologies on the upcoming ramble!
So this started out as I wanted to physically wire connect my Galaxy S8 to the factory HU to play FLAC files at best levels (vs Bluetooth where the signal gets compressed). S8 will only BT connect and Hyundai has no firmware release for the 2014 SFS radio.
I searched around and could not find a posting showing an HU replacement for the Infinity Nav system (looked on DIYMA also). I am wondering if someone has done this successfully and kept functionality of steering wheel controls and a/c controls for the aftermarket unit setup. I have researched the Metra mounting kit, but per Metra they only make it for replacement of the Non-Nav setup. I also checked on the iDatalink Maestro, but it does not (at present) allow a/c display or steering wheel complete control (just partial control) when connected to an aftermarket HU in the Infinity/Nav SFS.
I am thinking that I could find a busted Nav radio at a junkyard and find a decent bezel. Then match that up to the Metra to custom make the bracket, but the controls issue and no a/c display is problematic.
I believe a DSP and more dedicated power channels to each speaker driver ought to help the sound quality (drivers, tweeters and sub are all being re-installed and factory speakers removed) if an aftermarket HU is not an option and factory must be retained. If so, I believe the only way to play FLAC files via wired connection is to use an OTG cable and a Dragonfly Red.
Any info is appreciated.
