My apologies on the upcoming ramble!
So this started out as I wanted to physically wire connect my Galaxy S8 to the factory HU to play FLAC files at best levels (vs Bluetooth where the signal gets compressed). S8 will only BT connect and Hyundai has no firmware release for the 2014 SFS radio.

I searched around and could not find a posting showing an HU replacement for the Infinity Nav system (looked on DIYMA also). I am wondering if someone has done this successfully and kept functionality of steering wheel controls and a/c controls for the aftermarket unit setup. I have researched the Metra mounting kit, but per Metra they only make it for replacement of the Non-Nav setup. I also checked on the iDatalink Maestro, but it does not (at present) allow a/c display or steering wheel complete control (just partial control) when connected to an aftermarket HU in the Infinity/Nav SFS.

I am thinking that I could find a busted Nav radio at a junkyard and find a decent bezel. Then match that up to the Metra to custom make the bracket, but the controls issue and no a/c display is problematic.

I believe a DSP and more dedicated power channels to each speaker driver ought to help the sound quality (drivers, tweeters and sub are all being re-installed and factory speakers removed) if an aftermarket HU is not an option and factory must be retained. If so, I believe the only way to play FLAC files via wired connection is to use an OTG cable and a Dragonfly Red.

Any info is appreciated.

I really want to know if the A/C info will appear on the Android Head unit.
The only research I could find is on the Kia Sorento (sister of the Hyundai). There's a head unit with 100% android OS made by:
Infidini
(yes, it's spelled that way)
That a few folks have put into their Sorentos and the AC/climate controls DO show up.

However, the unit is rather price, if memory serves.

I'm not aware of any other manufacturer head unit that anyone has *actually tried* that shows the climate controls.

I found the below Chinese head units which retain steering controls, OEM reverse camera, and A/C controls. It is made specifically for Santa Fe with Nav, but not sure how good they are. Not cheap also.

Those look interesting, but I wonder how well they work (for example, are they smooth performance or slow with commands when sent to them from the user).

After much deliberation with my installer (Chris at OTS), I had a choice of a second headunit in the lower cabinet (where you reach in for access to the USB port, line in and 12volt sockets) or a portable DAP. I went the portable DAP route since I could then use that in the house and with headphones if I wanted. Some in process photos.
- DAP and DSP controller (just waiting for the magnetic mounting kit to come in and then the DAP will sit up a bit on the faceplate).
- new tweeter pods that Chris handmade to get better imaging in the front (only two tweeters now in the car).
- before and after of doors with Dynamat installed (I thought the inside panel was smooth, but it has quite a few indentations, so a lot of Dynamat had to be used for inside the doors and the crevices on the surface panels).
- amps, DSP and 10” shallow sub.

Still some more fine level work to go, but we are close!
