Hello everyone I'm a New Member with a 2009 Hyundai Sonata with 4 cylinders.

I was putting in the 12 oz can of freon and the dial was showing it was still low. So, I put in the 2nd can in and the engine started making a skipping noise. I turned off the car. Waited 15 minutes then started driving, the air went from cold to warm air, then the car started making the skipping noises again and then the burnt rubber smell. When I pulled over I turned the air off, looked under the hood but the skipping stopped, didn't come back on when I turned the AC back on level 1 and the air was cool again but the burnt rubber smell was still there. Can someone please help me.

Sounds more like a compressor/clutch issue with the AC and the burnt rubber smell could be from the belt.

With A/C, more refrigerant doesn't equal more cooling. Time to take it to a shop before you do any more damage.
