On my way back to the office during lunch and saw that both the ABS and ESC lights came on at the same time. First thought I had hit the ESC button and pressed it. Nothing happened. Car seems to be running fine. Got back here, turned off the ignition and turned it back on. The two lights didn't come back on. But I didn't drive or brake, so don't know if that was a test of any kind.

So, what's wrong with the car?

The front brake pads and rotors were turned a few months ago. The brakes have had an occassional squeek since, which is another issue. Rolling eyes.

its called stop brake lamp switch recall

mine had the same exact problem and after going in to dealer for that recall

it fixed the problem and i get that squeek on my brake also and it kind annoys me

When was the recall? I go to the dealer for all the oil changes, service, etc. (see my headlight bult thread).
They check every time and said I was up to date on all recalls.

And that affects the ESC light too?

DO NOT post VIN in public forum... I should have very good references, you can ask moderator "lovemysantafe", and many other here of which I have run VIN for warranty info and recalls, along with people at hyundaiforum site, and the yuku hyundaisantafe site.

I do not keep list of names, I get the print, pass relative on to owner, and I am done.

Let me know if I can run your VIN and advise you to what I find.

Yes, I am a Hyundai dealer technician..

Will get the number off the dash in the morning. It's dark now.

By the way, the lights didn't come back on.
