Temp reading from A/C vent at 68-70
Outside temp 81 about 30% humidity
Low side reading 32psi High side 252

It looked like the clutch and compressor were working OK.
Any thoughts on what the next steps should be besides going to a mechanic.
Is there a common point of failure.

i would just get a kit and add some freon. car that age with few miles is common to leak some out. you might have to do it once year.

10 degrees cooling from 80 degrees is crap (in my opinion). Check that your condenser and/or radiator are not physically blocked up with debris (leaves, bugs, etc.) so they can efficiently shed heat.

I would take it somewhere and have the system pumped down and recharged if you cannot do this yourself.

But I added a can to my Accent that was reading around 225 hi side so it read 275 hi side at 90F and it dramatically made the system work better. it evens cycles on and off after a good cool down of the interior.
