Just bought my car, feeling a bit confused and worried. Tank capacity should be 11.9 gallons, but tank gets full with 9 gallons. Salesman tells me "difference is reserve that you do not see", but it does not make sense that reserve would be 25% of total capacity. Any thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Thank you.

That's normal with most modern cars. When the car's computer tells you you're at zero, there's still a couple gallons left. They do that in part to prevent the tank from running dry, which can damage the fuel pump.

pump the fuel tank out,, then refill it.. learn your common MPG so you can use odometer when the time come the sender cease sending level info to cluster..

My ride for last number of year, I aint spending money for something to tell me fuel level, besides labor,, I already know what MPG was, so I run 300 mile as baseline on trip odometer, and refuel, even though I know there is rough 6 gallon left yet.. fill up, reset odometer, and up to approx 300 mile, refuel
