I just installed OEM remote start kit in my 2017 Elantra. Lock and unlocks works but remote start just cranks engine 3 times does not start engine. If I insert key and then try remote starting, it works.
What could be wrong?

Only remote start I am familiar with is the OE version requiring BlueLink with options at several hundred dollars per year and an app downloaded to your cellular phone. Also lets you set the climate controls.

If this is some aftermarket remote start, have to get back to the manufacturer to address your problems. They should specify the vehicles their remote starter is compatible with.

It sounds like your vehicle has an immobilizer.
And your remote start did not take care of that little detail.
You may need a unit called an immobilizer bypass module.

Yeah. The box itself says “Genuine Hyundai OEM Remote start kit”.
