Hello everyone, I’m new to this forum and would like to show my 2016 sonata sport..love the car, 45,000 miles no problems and I’m gonna start modding it. Would appreciate any insight or ideas about any cool mods. I’m gonna start with cosmetic/ the outside of the car then work my way in/ “performance”.

I Gotta 2016 Sonata SE bro and i was the same as you not too long ago, performance is gonna be the hardest ive found out , i feel like its too slow at times, but to help you can get a stage 1 tune at any hyundai tuner, delete resonator and cat , maybe muffler too and add a cold air intake and itll boost it and give it a more powerful sound and liking , me personally so far im only adding cold air intake and deleting resonator, deleting cat is risky, and even the tune, it voids warranty , but other than that ive added rims , added drl, ive pinned stripped outer lining , plastidipped emblems , and next i want to mod the grill, and change tailights then gunsmoke them and add vents on hood but let me know what you think bro

I’ve had a series of mods done to my ‘16 Sport as well.

Headlights: LED or HID, I have Beamtech LEDs installed. Super bright and easy to install.

If you want to do wheels/tires there are tons of options that fit our bolt pattern. My setup is 18x8 Konig Oversteer with +35mm offset.

exhaust: my setup were 2 magnaflow #12226 mufflers and a resonator delete.

Lowering: I used Megan Racing Springs...BIG REGRET* as they damaged my struts. If you want to lower your car I’d suggest coilovers. They’re more expensive but you’ll be paying that much in repairs. Believe me, I know.

Interior mods: weather tech mats, maybe LED map light in the rear (I believe LEDs already are in the front from factory), Accentglow LED Cupholders. They’re pretty cool and they’ve been in my car for over 2 years.

There is not much you can do to your 2.4L for any significant power without spending a ton of $. Many will suggest a CAI and exhaust, possibly a custom tune but it would surprise me if all of that gets you close to the base power of the 2.0T. Even if you had purchased the 2.0T engine mods are limited to the same and you can get the turbo up to 250-275 whp with them. More if you want to spend a ton changing turbos etc but then you have the rest of the drive train to worry about, theses are not performance cars/engines also you will throw away the 100,000 warranty with those mods and the way many of these are eating engines at higher mileage and the factory is covering them Id leave it close to stock. Do the cosmetic stuff if you like it. Ive also used the Beamtech (same as the _owner and they match the DRL and are only $49)

I dont mean to hijack the thread but what happened using the springs? I still have not purchased my coilovers (wich was why I sold the springs) because Im already occasionally hitting the front lip at stock height.

Thanks for all that info, I appreciate it. You’re right, front are LED, deff gotta get the rear to match. Mind sharing some pics Of your headlights ON? & a side view of your car ? BTW I saw u got the “updated” grill right? I deff need that looks official. Also Ever seen anyone buy the taillights that are LED?..i don’t like the taillights I have because they seem old to me but the LED makes it look more newer. Seen them come stock on some Limited or the 2.0t

I guess you right...might just make it sound “fast” lmao I won’t be racing in this car anyways, this is my first car so just gonna have fun with it. & go ahead I don’t mind , I just made this tread to see my progress and to get any valuable info about the car.

I think its great that you started a thread on your car and any mods you do. Keep posting!

Many of us want to personalize our car some a little some alot so sharing an ideas and links helps us all.

I agree the grille that the _owner has looks good, I had to replace mine and if I had seen his first I would hve ordered it and it was less than the factory replacements available
