Hello everyone! I've had this car for a week now and tried looking through the Equus side of the forums but haven't found answers to these specific questions:

1. What is the reason for the range in lug nut torque spec (65-79lb/ft)?

2. How much is reasonable to pay for an engine oil change at a dealership?

3. Other than the dealership, where do you get your alignments/tires/balancing done at? (I don't want to go to a shop that might damage the air suspension)

4. How much is a replacement key fob at the dealership? (I was only given one at purchase)

5. Has anyone successfully added remote start to their Ultimate? Is it possible?

Any help is appreciated. TIA!

80

2. How much is reasonable to pay for an engine oil change at a dealership?
I think we is $32 for regular oil, we dont distinguish 4qt from 7qt on the oil change.. we'll get you with something found during walk around inspection that may be needing attention

3. Other than the dealership, where do you get your alignments/tires/balancing done at? (I don't want to go to a shop that might damage the air suspension)
Anybody can do it,, just come down to workmanship of person doing work and the equipment available to them to do quality repair..

4. How much is a replacement key fob at the dealership? (I was only given one at purchase)
Call dealer part counter for proper pricing,, I will speculate rough $400 for combined Smartkey, a metal key and cutting to go with it,, and we is $50 I think to program,,,, need both SMK, we obtain PIN to get into Smarta module, and program both SMK in 1 sitting

5. Has anyone successfully added remote start to their Ultimate? Is it possible?

If bought from Hyundai dealer, ask themto supply 2nd Smartkey with cut key, and program... Joe's Used Car, likely on your own..

New off truck to dealer from Hyundai Motor, it come with 2 complete SmartKey..

Balancing, Hunter 9700 and a 2 plane balance,, some kids only do single plain on them wheels, and sometimes just feel right all way through speed range

Oil, same price through product line.. Equus,, remove under covers to drain and oil filter, and 7-8qt oil,,all for same price as beater 5qt Elantra at $32 maybe

Thank you, sbr711!

The Hyundai dealer I bought from said they won't supply another key fob, although I was provided the valet key.

So you wouldn't mind taking this car with air suspension to your run of the mill tire shop for the work?

Anytime one buys or is thinking of buying a used car of any brand without two keys should walk away. There is no excuse for not having two keys to go with the car. Period. The dealer "Honest John" is pulling a fast one.

Since day 1 of Equus,, I just kick rack arm under rocker box pinchweld, and pick the car up

Stuff going to hang at end of strut piston travel... set iack on floor, hop in start up, push the "raise" button to lift chassis off rack, all done

You dont want to have to deal with suspension diag / repair,,, (neither does the tech).. kid next to me that has had 1 get pump assembly, front struts for leak.. overall disaster,, upward of over $4500 I think..

He has another that been sitting on our lot a while now,, low rider,, owner not done anything,, it just sitting on our lot

Any advice or recourse toward obtaining a 2nd key fob?

How many miles do you have on the car.? What kind of dealership is it? New or used?

You could stir up a stink by using Yelp, etc; to point out their apparent unethical business practices.

I’ll be perfectly frank, however, you should have demanded both sets of keys at closing. The original owner should have them and if the dealer “really” doesn’t have the key I would attempt to ask the last owner directly. As a rule of thumb, an Equus owner is not likely to be trailer trash.

At the local dealer here there is a 2015 Equus that the original owner turned in on lease as the lease was up and the market value doesn’t meet the residual value. It has about 20,000 miles on it. But he just did the math and bought a 2018 G90 that was marked way down. The dealer was very anxious to get it out of his inventory. They may have lost money for all I know.

The dealer is waiting for Hyundai to come and pick it up. They can’t sell it but may have bought it if it had retained the value but didn’t want it as the market value was about $5,000 less than the residual. The owner would have had to cough up a $400 turn in fee if he hadn’t bought the G90.

Hyundai will now auction it off in Dallas, most probably.

I don’t know all the facts but I would imagine that “Honest John’s “ business practices are a little shady.

You might look on eBay to see if you can find a key fob. With a little luck, they won’t fleece you to reprogram it.

Good Luck!

BTW, I would definitely have any alignment work done at a competent dealer. I would avoid like the plague these after market chains who do this kind of work. There is no way they are competent or have the proper equipment.

What makes you think it needs an alignment.? One of these tanks should last 200K without turning a wrench on them.

I bought the car at a Hyundai dealership, used. I just hit 45K.

My car was pulling left very noticeably. I got my alignment done at a local Hyundai dealership, and now it pulls right. The tech stated this is "road crown pull"...the alignment was brought within specs (green all around), and my tire wear is even all the way around.

Don’t get it serviced anywhere but Hyundai who will charge you double for repairs and oil changes. If you don’t have them do EVERYTHING, Hyundai will not warranty anything that goes wrong. Have a 2014; engine failed at 32k mikes and they refused to warranty it. I proved it was maintained and they still wouldn’t warranty it. It cost me $15k plus no use of my car for a year. I will never buy another Hyundai under any circumstances.

Just received my vehicle back from the dealership. Now, these 2 icons show up. Anyone know what they mean and how I can get rid of them?

1. What is the small "A" to the left?
2. Why are the folding mirrors showing up in red? (The mirrors do fold/unfold upon lock/unlock)
