2015 Hyundai Elantra trunk lid opener

Hello All,

I recently purchased a trunk lid switch ( part number 812603K001 ) in order to be able to open the trunk with the press of the button from the outside without the key or inside button.

The only issue is that I do not see where I can plug it into to make it work, which I'm wondering if there is some extra wiring that I have to buy?

Thank you

There are 3 wires coming into the hood latch, which is for the remove opener ( on the key fob) .

I was wondering if it's possible to splice in the two wires that come from the switch and make it work that way?
So I found some information on people retrofitting a button inside and making it open the trunk with a push of a button... it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

I was wondering if anyone has detailed wiring diagrams for these cars?

Thanks.
I was wondering the same thing. Unfortunately, it requires the smart key system and in the US, the trunk release button wasn't an option so I don't have access to those diagrams to find out how it really works. You'll need to tap into the IPS control module some how to allow a signal to be sent to the trunk motor. You don't want to tap into the trunk motor since you'll be able to open the trunk without the doors open, so anyone could break into your trunk at any time.

Here are the diagrams for a 2013 car and then the trunk release diagram for a 2017 car that has the trunk release button. You see the 2017 has an extra wire to go into the IPS control module (via I/P-B) that allows for the trunk release.

I dug a little deeper and you can do it:

You will need this pin that goes into M13-A for the smart key module. It is next to the glove box.

Here is the terminal that goes into the rear switch

This pin goes into that terminal for the rear switch

GF03 is very hard to get to, so ground it in the center pillar behind the trim. You will need to remove the side trim to run the wires to the back of the car.

Thank you!

I will have to try this alittle later, as right now I'm too busy with school and have no time.

I appreciate your help, if and when I do it and I have questions I will be sure to contact you!

Thanks again!

Hmm, how does one get access to that web site?

used to be free but now its a subscription. I bought it for a month when I did my heated seat install on my 2013 GLS (front and rear with door switch) and looked up all sorts of stuff. The last thing I did was look up how to install the backup camera into 2011-2013 non-nav elantra with a 2014 non-nav bluetooth radio (seems to work, haven't done the install yet)
Make sure to get a list of things you want to look up and get a subscription for a week and look everything up.

I agree with you.....subscribe for a month, take a week of vacation and download EVERYTHING I can get my hands on for my car. 0:)
