I have a 2014 Sonata. Had the engine replaced last year from class action recall. A few months later I started hearing a growling noise when I accelerate in lower gear. I thought it was the muffler but when I brought it into the dealer, they said it was the tensioner, and they replaced it ($800+). But that didn't resolve the problem. Growling noise seems to be getting worse now. Any thoughts?

Have the dealer check motor/transmission mounts as well. It could be they are getting a little worn. I had a wicked rattle after my motor replacement in May/June and it turned out that both my motor and transmission mounts were bad. I am also dealing with the growl at low gear RPM now (pretty sure it's the tensioner as well, thanks for the rough estimate on cost!) but definitely check on the mounts.

I've been sitting with this problem for a while, replaced tensioner for sepentine belt and rollers but still problem persists, I even replaced the belt since it was worn as well I'm suspecting the Aircon compressor might be faulty? Please if anyone manages to fix the problem, keep us updated
