Interesting, looks like they dropped the 'Touch and Go' package. That was the best one of the 3, glad I got mine when I did. Curious about the 2.0 GDI engine...what's the specs on it?

EDIT: AND they are adding the LED taillights?????? JERKS:) Should make it easier to add to the 13's though as they should start being in stock...

If Im correct here , the new GDI 2.0 going into the the Elantra line is the very same from the 2014 Kia Fortes , which would put the output at 173 hp with 154 pound-feet of torque

I'm curious to see how it does in the GT. Reading the info I can find, looks like it'll have marginally more power but also worse MPG. Doesn't seem like much of an upgrade, not sure why they are making the switch.

the 2.0 is rated at 24/36 vs our 1.8 at 26/37

Not that much of difference to be fair.
True, but if the numbers are optimistic like ours are then in mixed driving the 2.0 will average high 20's. That would not be good. Like I said, curious to see how the numbers play out...

And cbzdel, the Touch and Go was the best pkg for me too. I also didn't want the sunroof, but wanted the upgraded wheels. Doesn't hurt that I basically got Touch and Go for free because the dealer listed the price wrong online. Car was listed $900 cheaper than it should have been, but the dealer honored the pricing. :)

It's sad that if you want the panoramic sunroof you must take the NAV system, I prefer aftermarket NAV system.

The 2.0L is 156hp and 144ft-lbs.

The 2.4L is an option for the Forte (or used to be) at 173hp and 154ft-lbs.

;)

Regardless, it's a nice little bump from the 1.8L's 148hp and 131ft-lbs. Not much of a power difference, but what you will feel most is the extra torque.

and I quote

"The Forte offers a choice of two new four-cylinder engines, one for each of its two trim levels. The base LX is towed by a 1.8-liter rated for 148 horsepower and 131 lb-ft of torque, this one borrowed from the Hyundai Elantra parts bin. Moving uptown to the Forte EX nets a 2.0-liter with 173 horsepower and 154 lb-ft. Both have dual overhead cams, 16 valves, and variable valve timing, and both share an 81-mm cylinder bore. The 2.0 has a longer stroke (97 mm), a higher compression ratio (11.5:1 versus 10.3), and direct injection. A six-speed manual transmission is available, but only with the 1.8-liter engine. A six-speed automatic is optional there and standard in the EX."

Thats courtesy of the Car and Driver 2014 Forte First drive, and I dont really think its a leap to expect that very same GDI 2.0 in the 2014 Elantra line .

The 2.0 GDI comes from the KDM Spec i45 and K5 (Sonata/Optima). Forte got it first, now the GT gets it. Hyundai added the motor to our cars because the triplets are the only Hyundai models that don't have GDI in North America, so says my Dealer. 173hp would be an upgrade in power we'd all notice, but until the 1.6T or 2.0T hit the engine bay, I'll keep my 2013 and boost it myself.

I stand corrected. ;)

Seems they're changing things up quite a bit.

Anybody got the Canadian 2014 Elantra GT packaging? If the sunroof is also taken out from the GLS Canadian package without even an imbedded option, there is no way I will even consider an SE tech package.

I dont see why the smart kit is in the style catagory and the sunroof is in the tech section, guess they got it backwards. Must be trying to push sales of the fully loaded cars for everyone that gets the sunroof option.

What is the drivers blind spot mirror?

Canadian cars don't have the "style" and "tech" packages. nothing changes but the new motor and tail lights.
