I've noticed on my SE that the faux fabric inserts they put on the doors to match the seat fabric seem to be of a significantly lesser quality and lightly smudge and hold dirt just by breathing on them.

Does anyone have a suggestion of something that would clean these inserts without dissolving them? It doesn't appear that they can handle much in the cleaner department.

My only idea on that would be diluted soap with warm water on a towel to rub it down and maybe a hair dryer to dry it quickly after. Only concern is potentially stretching the fabric or dripping water on the window controls. I tried looking at after market door insert but could not find any. Perhaps a cool idea would be take the door panel off and find a way to separate the fabric and find a nice leather shop to wrap it and than install back in. Not sure how that would work but it would last longer look better and easy to clean.

One counter-measure option to consider: fabric protectant spray once you get this area addressed. BEFORE it appears elsewhere and becomes a recurring issue. "An ounce of prevention..."

Thanks for the responses everyone...I think the mild detergent / soap and warm water solution might be the most controllable so I might try that on a less noticeable part of the fabric to start.

I did the protectant spray angle on a previous car after cleaning it and even testing it but it slowly stained ( after two applications ) and I never could get it out entirely which makes me a little gun shy with the Accent. I like the idea of somehow replacing the insert but that would likely be a custom job that would be beyond my willingness to pay. Maybe I'll have to check the aftermarket...

Rich, Happy B-day BTW...I guess it's the second 'big one' ( after 40 ) but given my late dad who really WAS the same at 85 as he was at 65...you and yours will hopefully have the same luck.
