Hello everyone,

I am in the process of installing a backup camera on my 2012 Tucson. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the back lights? What color wire do I use for the switch in order for the camera to turn on when I put the car in reverse? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter. Sorry I don't know the colour of the wire off the top of my head. But it should be easy to ID it for yourself if you have a multimeter or a test light. Just switch the ignition on, select reverse gear, then use the voltage scale on the meter to measure the voltage on each wire at the rear lamp harness connector. The wire that has 12V when reverse gear is selected is the wire you want to connect the camera power supply to.

Good Luck with the installation.

If I helped you fix it, why not...

Your support is greatly appreciated

On my Sonata, the reverse light wire is blue. Probably the same on Tucson, but as mentioned above, I stripped the wire a little, put in reverse and checked for power, back in park and no power. Good to go.
