Hi All:
Just purchased a used 2012 Elantra Limited and it has the standard xm bluetooth radio. I want to upgrade to the Limited Hyundai OEM Navigation unit and purchased one that was not that expensive.

Is the swap plug and play? I've read some wiring issues with upgrading a GLS model to OEM Navigation, but I have a limited model. Will I have any wiring/plug issues? :frown:

Thanks!

You'll probably have issues, for one you won't have the GPS antenna for navigation.

For two, if the nav unit had the premium sound package and your limited didn't have the premium sound, it might not work anyways for most stuff. Not sure if Hyundai did it the same in 2012 as they do now but the nav/xm/whatever else stuff went to a factory amp which then output the sound to the speakers.. if you don't have that then you're screwed also, but that's just my guess there.

Good luck.

I believe the wiring is different. There are some older posts that go into detail about it. Maybe a search of the forum will get you some answers. Good luck!

Thanks! I do have the shark antenna on the roof already. Is that the gps navigation antenna? The radio in there now has the Bluetooth and xm.
Yeah the shark fin would have the gps antenna -- if the car came with gps.

I doubt Hyundai would throw in a gps antenna into a build that didn't have a gps unit in it just in case the owner ever changed the radio. I could be wrong but I don't think you'll have the gps antenna already.

There are two separate part numbers for shark antennas with and without navigation, so it's unlikely you have one with gps.
