Ummm, udate is already on GDS... all you need to do is show up and run VIN to verify open to that VIN..

I just installed the ".05" internet update to our GDS Tuesday that included as part of the update program #207... hopefully your dealer is up to date with GDS to do the program.

The program is for the "MDPS" module....

We were given no explanation for the program, just doing it because Hyundai USA says so, because it is a recall.

Got mine checked this morning per the recall. 364 miles on vehicle. No cookies, no car wash (the dealer states because of the So. California drought!), no nuthin'. Service guys said they retorqued all the steering assembly bolts and reprogrammed "something", also stated that there was nothing wrong with my steering. At least I have it in writing, such as it is.

This may be a stupid question....buut...i read that the recall covers vin range: 5NPEC4AC6BH000216 - 5NPEB4AC8BH151446. Does the numbers just progress and increase by 1? i guess to simply put it....does mine fall within the range? mine is 5NPEC4AC8BH065505. Thanks lol

This recall has me worried. Does it only affect US built models or Korean as well?

According to the instructions, VIN starting with "5" (USA built chassis) is affected....

VIN start with "K"... don't know that there is a "K" for 2011 Sonata, as I am in USA.

Which recall exactly?

Note that it is a "voluntary" recall (if you are talking about the Sonata Steering issue) which shows a serious concern about the safety of the owners.

I'm not concerned about it at all - the way I understand it, the vehicles that were found with this problem had less than 600 miles on them, somewhat implying that if one doesn't experience the problem early their vehicle may be OK.

New cars being sold of the lots today will have had the TSB performed on the vehicle before it goes off of the lot.

However, if you are asking about this recall, then it appears to only be for the Sonatas built in Alabama.

HELLO EVERYONE THIS IS MY 1ST POST. I'VE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS SITE FOR A MONTH SINCE I HAD MY 2011 SONATA. I WENT TO DO MY 1ST OIL CHANCE AND THEY TOLD ME I HAVE A RECALL FOR THE STEERING. NOW BEFORE I WENT IN FOR SERVICE I THOUGHT THE STEERING WAS A LITTLE LOOSE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAYS. SO THEY HAD STEERING INSPECTED AND REPROGRAM. THE STEERING IS A WHOLE LOT BETTER THEN BEFORE IT SEEMS TIGHTER.

What is a voluntary recall? All recalls are "voluntary" in that the owner has a choice whether to take the car in to be fixed, correct? And yes, I'm referring to the steering recall.
