Starting yesterday I've had transmission slip issue when the car goes on EV.
Car was driving around 30-40 mph, All of sudden, transmission appears to get stuck in neutral. EV motor fire up like a racing car, RPM goes up to the top level, but car speed down conversely.

I can't feel ICE engine is running but only EV motor. Gradually EV battery out and the car completely stop. so what I can do is just parking the car in the road side and wait the ICE engine re-charging battery. That makes I can hardly go about 1-2 mile under 20mph speed until battery out again.

Luckily i can get to Hyundai dealer shop, and my car mileage is just 75K so warranty still cover it.

I found similar issue was posted back in year 2013, most of them says the issue occurred when the mileage was over 70K. Crossed fingers!

It's already passed 2 weeks since My car has fixed with a brand new transmission (what the dealer says).
In my case, it only took 3 weeks to repair and absolutely covered by warranty!

I feel the transmission is more stable, and smooth. All the old drawbacks are gone - hesitate acceleration, speed up under cruse control and etc. Most of all, fuel mileages are better than before.
I am very satisfied with the new transmission so far.

I have learned that it's never a good idea to buy a vehicle that has any part of the drivetrain, engine/transmission, that have not been in production for several years. The first few years or more are testing grounds and buyers are the guinea pigs used to find engineering problems.

My dad bought one of the first Buick LeSabre, 1981 I believe, cars with a new diesel engines. I advise him STRONGLY that he stay away from it. Well that only made my dad that much more determined to buy it. It wasn't even a year later that my dad called me at a shop I had started. He told me the starter motor went out on the Buick and the dealer wanted close to a thousand dollars to replace it. I looked it up and I said......Dad....do you remember me advising not to buy that vehicle at that time....He hung up on me. I went by after closing the shop and talked with my dad and I told him I could do the job for him and save him some money. My dad said....I don't care about the money but this is ridiculous. I explained that the engine had to be pulled in order to get the starter out.
Don't ever buy a new platform unless being a guinea pig is your idea of fun.

I never buy the first year of a model. Engines, trans, rear ends change (even a bit) every year with most companies. The Diesel engines and "4 - 6 -8" engines were a disaster. They were trying to get better gas mileage for EPA. I believe they took regular engines and converted them to diesel.. very bad idea.

Now that it has been a couple of months with your new transmission, have you had any issues like before?

No issue found so far. I am happy with it.

I assume that it may be broken again another 70K miles latter, but that is just a guess..

Since winter started, car mileages are little bit down, but old drawbacks -especially hesitate acceleration- are gone.
