Some questions on this model as I am new to Hyundai ownership and hoping someone can help.

1. Air Con - just doesn't blow cold air. My previous cars (Hondas) gave ice cold air when air con was on. This car blows air fine but it is lukewarm. Have had the air con system tested for pressure and leaks and all ok according to Kwik Fit. When heating is turned up I switched it to low 20s and didn't make a difference. Switched it to Full and got plenty hot air. Anything I can do to see if there's a fault or find out cause of any fault?

2. Possibly linked to number 1 but not sure - dashboard temperature reading seems off. Outside air temperature in Celsius seems higher than it actually is. Got in car tonight and it said on start up that the temp was 22 degrees. After driving for 5 mins it dropped to 17 which seemed more realistic. It has been a warm day/night but not that warm.

3. USB socket when used with phone charging lead just flicks from charge to no charge every few seconds. Power Socket with USB charger works just fine though. Any ideas with the USB socket?

I have just got this car so wondering if these things are normal with Hyundai or if there are definite issues I should worry about.

There might be gas in the system and it might not be leaking but it sounds like yours still isn't working for some reason.
Do you know about the Kwik Fit "Recharge or No Charge" guarantee?

That's normal. The ambient air temp sensor is located just forward of the radiator. If the car has been driven and then parked, the sensor will get heat soaked by the hot air surrounding the radiator.

The USB socket is just a data input for the multimedia system. It has enough current capacity to power a USB thumb drive. It wasn't designed as a phone charger.

Thanks for the responses. I was aware of Kwik Fit's Recharge or No Charge. The air con is slightly colder since their input. Just expecting it to be better than it is. This is my main concern. Might pop it into a Hyundai dealership to see if they can advise without it costing a fortune.

The USB issue I suspected as much. The power socket next to it does the job of charging no problem. I can live with that.

Update on this.....

So the air con is not working due to a broken condenser. Had an Air Con specialist out today and he says the condenser is needing replaced. Said it was leaking in 3 places.

The first thing he tried was measuring the pressure in the system. Within about 60 seconds he managed to tell me that the system was empty. Nothing. This is on the back of Kwik Fit just over 2 months ago testing it, re-pressurising it and giving me the ok as mentioned in my original post. Is it too much to ask that Kwik Fit had diagnosed the broken condenser in the first place? I will be chasing a refund.

So, to fix my problem I'm getting quoted £280 from my Hyundai dealer for fitting and labour. The Air Con guy is saying anywhere between £300 and £400 but this comes with a system top up and recharge after the condenser is replaced.

I did ask my Hyundai dealer if they would confirm that the condenser was in actual fact the problem but they said they'd charge me an extra £100 for this diagnosis. Robbery!

By all accounts the condensers on the i30s are fairly poor quality.

Any comments/advice on this situation at all? Not sure if I live with this problem with the summer effectively over or if I take the plunge and get it fixed.

My advice is get it fixed sooner rather than later. If there are holes in the system that have allowed the refrigerant to leak out the same holes are allowing moisture (in the air) to leak in. Moisture in the system reacts with the refrigerant and oil to form acids that can cause corrosion which could damage the compressor and other components in the system.
