I have a 2010 Elantra SE that I bought back in June. I came out to the parking lot a couple of days ago to find that my hood was slightly dented and the drivers side headlight was broken. (It looks like the SUV that was parked in front of me backed up instead of pulling forward and the spare tire on the back door did the damage.)

I went to get a new headlight and found some confusing information- the passengers side headlight is about $175 (which is about the same price as other recent years) but the drivers side is $240. 2007 and 2008 drivers side lights are also only $175 or so and they look identical.

The passenger and drivers side units also look identical (except flipped obviously) and I'm trying to figure out if there is a reason for the price difference or if someone just made a typo in the master catalog.

Also interesting is that the headlight for the 2010 has a different part number than previous years but the parts themselves look identical- anyone know what's going on?

There is no significant difference in the 2009 and 2010 headlights. The 2009 light will fit the 2010 and costs significantly less. The only difference I have found is that the 2009 is slightly nicer. The edge of the little suspended lens for the turn signal is chromed on the 2009 and left clear on the 2010. Why the unchromed light costs $70 more than the chromed one is beyond me.
