I heard what sounded like a spring popping. Looked under my car and noticed this off the exhaust. I can’t get under it and it was still hot. Is the flex pipe clamped on or something?

Looks like your front pipe is falling apart at the flex. You can purchase a replacement flexible coupling at a local auto store to replace the damaged section, or purchase a direct replacement front pipe to bolt in.

I have a 4-cylinder, but here was my broken front pipe that I removed this past winter. I considered just using a coupling, but I don't weld so I would have been stuck using exhaust clamps. There wasn't enough room for clamps so I just replaced the pipe altogether.

You were correct the flex blew apart from inside. I had a local muffler shop cut it out and weld a new one in.
