Hood wouldn't release via cable. Pulled with vice grip and banged on hood then it released. Cable is stretched, so used the clever zip tie solution to tighten hood. Hood will not catch and secure. Lubricated latch but will not catch and hold. Emergency release works, just not the primary latch. Any ideas to fix or time for a new one? Thanks in advance.

Look at the rod attached to the underside of the hood and the latch. You should be able to figure out how to adjust it. Simple sockets will do the trick. You just have to play with it.

just get new OEM latch cable. When the cable is stretched, you don't know when it will break. Don't touch the hood before cable replacement. The cable are 2 pieces you will need both

If you used vise grips and it still would not open without hitting the hood it's not just a stretched cable.
