Everything was fine when I shut it down, the next day when I went to start it there was no starter action. Dash indicators were lit, but not even a click from the solenoid. Going back on past experiences with "neutral safety switches", I attempted to move the shifter to neutral, but it was locked even though the key was turned and, I had my foot on the brake. I then depressed the park release button and attempted to move it. It did release, but the shifter felt bound as I pulled it down into neutral. In neutral it started on the first turn of the key, but the shifter still felt wrong (tight, resistant) as I tried going through the gears and as I attempted to return it to Park. It will still not start in Park and now when I do put it into Park, it does not "lock" the transmission and the car will move if pushed.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

With a decent san tool you can adjust the P/N SS and test it's operation. Do you have a scan tool that displays the datastream?
