Hi,
I still have the drive shafts out.
As they will not go in.

However, I tried to start the car today.
No go. There was a check engine symbol up.

I dont have a code scanner.
Hope I am not going to have to get one.

Is there a way of claering the error with out one?

Thanks, 0:)

If the engine wont start the check engine light wont switch off. That's how it's supposed to work and isn't an indication of a fault.

When you say the engine wont start, do you mean it wont crank over or do you mean it wont fire?

Do you hear any sound from the engine when you try to crank it over?

Engine ground reconnected? Both the starter solenoid wires reconnected? Pressing down on the clutch pedal when you try to crank it?

Clutch definitely needs to be pressed.
Socket and cheater bar to the harmonic balancer ( bottom pulley ) and see if it can be rotated.
Misalignment of gearbox when reattaching?
Did you have a clutch aligning tool?

FYI
I haven't done one on a getz, just remembering things I did or stuffed up 20 years ago on a Gemini.

My clothes were dirty and I didnt want to sit in the car.
The interior is in good shape.
I didnt press the clutch whilst trying to start.
So if it definantly needs the clutch pressed down to start, like some vehicles do.
Hopefully it is that?

Thanks,

Update

Not to speak too soon.
But all good.
Engine started with clutch pressed to floor.
Drive shafts went in ( applied a little more force).
Clutch feels a little bit light (though I have never driven the car).
May need bleeding.
If I finish off tomorrow. I will try to put it in gear.

Thanks, 0:)
