I just heard that the auto transmission is acting up it won't go into high gear, and is sluggish at shifting in the lower gears. It all started with a clunk noise when downshifting at a light. Sensor failure? Band failure? Any ideas welcome!
could be a number of problems...solenoid, control issue, bands as you suggest, or even clutch plates.
ECU codes are necessary at this point...
only thing i can suggest is a full fluid flush if the fluid is getting bad..smells burnt, etc. but something tells me that won't fix it. kind of like throwing oil at a broken con rod. doesn't help much. still, for the cost of the fluid to do the flush vs. replacing the trans, might be worth a shot if the fluid has gone south. the pump may be trying to push through sludge.
