My son and I have swapped a 2006 2.7L into a 2003 2.7L GT both. Have a really bad "y" pipe with the flex joints, catalytic, so hard to listen to this engine with all the exhaust noise...so rather than patch it up we are looking for a new rear catalytic pipe and see the 2006 is somehow different (though I know it fits) so we ordered a 2003 new pipe/converter..but wanted to know what is the difference with the catalytic converter with the 2006?
Other issues with this swap:
1) the fuel rail pressure regulator needs a vacuum port installed onto the 2006 intake manifold runner assy.
2) O2 sensors off the 2003 must be used.
We are doing all we can think of for this 2003 car will think (ECU) it has a 2003 engine.
Anything overlooked, please advise..Thanks

We have bought a "y" pipe with catalytic on ebay, looks good and fits well. Important is the flex joints are stainless on the inside and outside.
Other wise is one lifter tapping a bit but the sensors, with the exemption of the O2 as I said, but in comparison at auto parts it is the knock sensors I will have to put the 2003 on the 2006 engine.
I will report after that change.
