I heard a thump from the transmission , the check engine light came on and the shiftronic would not work.. Hyundai checked it out and said that the transmission sensor wiring is shorted and wanted $800 to replace it.. Can I get it replaced at a Transmission repair shop at a cheaper price?... the shiftronic is now working but the cel stays on............

I'd try to determine what wires where and visually inspect it. Then I'd try to reseat all the connectors. Clear the CEL by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.
