On a 2001 Santa Fe, what years are the engines the same. What I mean is, lets say you have a 2001 Santa Fe, 4 cylinder, front wheel drive. And lets say that you needed a new engine. When looking for a used engine, what years would you be looking for that would be a straight swap?

2.4 from Santa Fe to 2006, Sonata to 2005, Kia Optima to 2005...

Only differences is wiring, and intake, maybe exhaust manifold, but block and head is same.

My salvage interchange shows these engines fitting.


SANTA FE 2001-06 2.4L (4 cyl, VIN "B", 8th digit)
SONATA 1999-01 2.4L (4 cyl, VIN "S", 8th digit)

Thanks guys. I found a source for a good refurb engine. I plan to order one and install it. But if anyone has any recommendations for other reliable sources for an engine, I'm still in the research phase.
