Im about to attempt to remove the pulley on crank. 2.0L mitsubishi DOHC. Looks like I have to use a 1/2" impact gun. Do I need to prevent the crank from turning and if yes, how. Also, lower cover is refusing to come off. I think I have all the bolts off. Does this cover come off before or after the crank pulley is off.?

So while the belt was one and cams locked, a pneumatic 750 ft pound gun was used. Going back and forth for 5 minutes the bolt finally let go with no rotation of the crankshaft.

I usually attach my long Snapon breaker bar and socket then hit the key for a split second. Works a treat. If really tight and you have access smack the bolt as hard as you can on the head. That also works.
