The signal lights stop working first .Dash board lights came on ,the car cut off. turn the key on nothing happen. No sound. I got it a tow to a car shop. He said it was the battery. i got a new battery. Start up great ran great until battery ran down. It will jump start. then cutoff. seem like the alternator is bad.

That sounds about right. Could be the alternator fuse too, or plenty of other things. Make sure to go through all the test procedures before replacing.

It's simple to test with a multimeter or a test lamp.
test lamp: with car off, connect from alternator output to ground: should light up. (otherwise, the fuse is bad) While car is running: sense wire to ground should light up. disconnect battery while car is running: car should remain running from alt power.

Multimeter: check that the voltage (basically anywhere) is about 13.7-14.5V, not 12V or less. The higher voltage is charging voltage produced by the alt. If this is not the case, then no power is coming out of the alternator. Check for voltage at the sense wire, check for continuity through the fuse. If the fuse is good and the sense wire is getting voltage, then its probably the alt.
