I have a 2006 Tucson GLS V6 that has 35,000 miles on it and 10 months left on my time warranty. The dealer says I need to replace the timing belt due to the time element (48 months) Does anyone know if this is absolutely necessary or just a way for the dealer to make more money? Thanks to whoever helps. Also it has been a great little ride going to trade or sell and get a 2010 maybe.

welcome to the forums :00000732:

hyundai recommends that the timing belt should be changed at 60,000 miles or five years whichever comes first, this applies to all models,(this recommendation is under normal driving conditions) so yours is a bit premature
