My Santa Fe won't pass 3000 rpm. Fault code is U0002. Checked wiring and sensors but still no change. Any ideas what could be problem ?

Does the car have a manual or auto gearbox?

I suspect that isn't a valid trouble code in that case. U codes relate to faults on the CAN data bus. And I don't think there is any CAN on a MK1 Santa Fe, unless it's fitted with an auto gearbox.

What type of scan tool are you using to read code? Generic OBD2 tools don't work very well on older Hyundai diesels.

I have a AUTEL OBD2 code reader. It will start and drive but it just won't go past 2800 rpm.

I think you should have the engine ECU scanned using a Hyundai specific tool rather then a generic OBD2 one.

I've no personal experience with either of these, but I do use one of the Launch professional scan tools which is very good.
