Hello all. I'm installing a re manufactured engine in my 2001 Santa Fa Manual trans. While moving parts from one engine to the other, I noticed something strange. The "new" engine doesn't have a balance shaft. There's a brass freeze plug there, with nothing behind it. Was this just an over sight of the engine builder, or did some later models not use the balance shaft? Should I just take the balance shaft out of the old motor and install it in the new one, or is there more to it than that?
Also, a while back I asked if it was possible to remove a Santa Fe engine from the top. I asked because the manual says it has to be dropped to the floor and the car lifted off it. Well, I found out for sure yesterday the engine will lift out of the car like most other engines. Just thought I'd mention it in case somewhere down the line someone else searches the forum for the same answer.
