Krakker1's first Hybrid build

So perhaps this car isn't really "buildable", but I'm throwing my own touches to it along the way. For starters, I just picked up this 2016 HSH with 22K a couple weeks ago, and I'm loving the ride so far. what I didn't expect, was the fuel econ. to be that good considering I'm a bit of a heavy foot. I am however finding my self looking for the "sweet spot" in the different drive modes to maximize my fuel consumption. (don't tell my friends that tho)
I traded my 16 Mitsubishi Outlander that was modified with RRM parts like aluminum pulley, timing controller, etc. and tho that ride was "Quick" and handled better than the Sonata, it was only giving me 18-24 MPG's and I've got 35 mile commute one way every day mostly. Tho I loved the space of the SUV, I missed the ride of my previous cars and just wanted something to commute with that was easier on the wallet. and since I only run premium fuel, this should be better. So now I've gone from 4 days between fill ups to 7-8 days. Yee freakin' haaaaa.
I don't see any engine or exhaust mods being done on this car, but I have tinted the windows, debadged it and have some Genesis style emblems I've reworked going on it as well as some window vent visors and blue masking around the front grill and window trim. I think the blue will make it stand out with that Hybrid vibe and add some tasteful color to it. Pics will come soon. It's good to be back....

If I were any better, I could only be ME!

So with the nice weather today (for a change) I managed to knock out the front grill trim color and get the front Genesis badge on it. I've plasti dipped the center of the emblems the same Duplicolor paint mask/wrap bright blue to bring out that "E" electric, hybrid, Blue drive theme.
Plan is to run the same color over the chrome window trim, but only on the lower sections. the rest will be done in Black to cover up the chrome.
Also going to add it to the lower chrome trim on the bottom of the door areas and maybe the fog light bezels.
1 light coat an 4 medium ones gave it a perfect covering that's laid out pretty smooth. We'll see how it fades but it's definitely got that "hybrid" look with the grill trim in blue and the grill blacked out.

FYI: front emblem was a joke. Could NOT get those little screw clip things off from behind the grill for nothing, so I ended up prying the H up with a bondo spreader until I could get a putty knife under it,,,,,, Popped them off in a jiffy. Here's some pics after the grill trim was done.

I like the look of the blue and your ideas. Reminds me a bit of BMW I8... The grill surround came out real nice. I also like the debadging and such but don't care too much to add back the Genesis style badges or that thing on the fender.

Thanks. Probably going to do a black carbon fiber oval using the old flying H as a template to put in place of the old emblem areas, then do some of the same blue on some lazer cut letters to spell TRON and let that be the Name of my car. I've got some blue plexi I might use for the front emblem space. We'll have to see what looks better. Might even just spray the H's the same blue and stick them back on.

I was thinking the stock rims could use some nice touches perhaps for not a lot of money and maintain the efficiency they were design to.

Got some more Blue done today. Managed to get both sides of the chrome trim from the lower portion of the windows to the front of the hood done, and the drivers side lower chrome trim. running out of daylight and gotta walk the dogs, so tomorrow we'll finisher up on the other side.
I'm happy with how the electric looking Blue turned out. and I made sure to get 4-5 even coats down after applying some adhesion promotor over the areas just before spraying them. (also a Dupli-color product) The True Blue Gloss really pops, and brings some POW to the look. Glad I didn't just black it out. After the new vent visors get put on, I'll black out the top portion of the window trim. Taping it all off one side at a time took the most tedious of work, but it was well worth it and I gave it 15min. after each last coat before I started pulling tape. I'll let it set up for a good week before I give it a hand wash and run some Palmers Mist N Shine over the car. (GOOD stuff)

Here's some pics of the Blue

I am liking your build bud....looks good. I always wanted a white car, there is soo much you can do with white cars, not to mention that they never age and always pop, you cannot see any scratches as the base coat is white....

What color would you recommend for a silver..... I guess black or maybe greyish chrome....??

Both our other SUV's are silver, the wifes got Green on hers and it works.
The girl is going with Dark Red.
My previous Silver 11 Sonata was blacked out on the trim. Had I kept it, I would have done either a dark Blue or a medium to dark Purple.
Silver is pretty versatile when it comes to using colors just like White. I wanted a white Sonata for a while, but I was really lucky when I ran across the Diamond White Pearl one. Love that "expensive" look.
Goodluck with whatever you decide to do. Post some pics when you do.

I really like how you personalized it and it looks very sharp. Hyundai should offer custom personalized trim upgrades such as yours during the buying process, it really allows the car to be one of a kind.

Be kind to the people you meet on the way up, because you're going to meet the same people on the way down
