Passenger window goes down but not up...

I have a 2013 accent and have been having and odd issue. Started a few months ago with the driver controls only being able to lower the front passenger window but not raise it. The passenger side control worked fine. Now months later the passenger control has also stopped working. If I move the switch around I can get it to move a little bit, but I really have to sit there and move it a certain way. What could be casuing this??

Garage
Either the switches have gone bad or you may have a loose wire somewhere. I would try taking the door panels off and see if the connections are bad or you may have rust buildup.

My guess is you have a fault with the passenger door window switch. If you have a 5 door model with electric windows on the rear doors you can confirm by swapping one of the rear switches to the front passenger door. If you don't have rear elec windows you could do a bypass test on the passenger door switch connector to see if that makes the window work again.

The switches just reverse the polarity of the current. So if the motor works at all it has to be the switch(s).

I don't know if this helps you, but we had the same problem with my friends pontiac van. They were scared to leave it with the window rolled down while waiting for the replacement switch. So we looked up online for the switch schematics and found people with the same problem, turns out you can pull out the switch, unplug it, and then put a paper-clip between the correct pins on the plug to roll the window up.

I don't know which pins to use on the 2010-2016 Accent, but you might be able to find out if you can somehow get a wiring diagram of the plug or use a volt meter on the one thats working. Just be careful if you attempt this, you could blow a fuse if you do it wrong.

The only time I had a problem with the window motors; what cured it was simply disconnecting and then reconnecting the motor. This was on a Ford though.

I had this same problem with my Accent. If the Windows doesn't move at all even when you try to pull it up, or push it down, bring it into the dealership. I had a part changed out covered under warranty.

I had this issue with the rear driver side window last week actually. Happened just the one time, haven't had an issue since.
