A lot of the LED with a heat sink and no fan take up more room.

Ive used both of these Auxito LED and they fit both high or low beam. Have been using them about 2 years now. Big improvement over stock halogens

Do you put the external driver inside the housing with the lamp? That is the advantage of the one I used for the low beams, no external driver module.
(edit: found a photo of the unit with the driver tucked inside the housing)

So you were able to get the larger of the two inside the high beam cavity without modification, and get the dust cap back on?

The size of the heatsink/fan housing on the one I listed is so big you cannot get it into the socket. When the LED portion is only half way in, the heatsink is stuck in the opening. Tried all manner of rotation, wiggling, etc., but it really was nowhere near going in. Then I did some depth measurements and realized that the cavity was not deep enough to accommodate the heatsink.
