it is easy but make sure to do the passenger side when your car is cool as it is realllll close to the muffler assembly
Finally got around to replacing my N Line back up light bulbs with LEDs. Easy access on both sides; pinch and the wiring harness pops off and twist and the bulb housing pulls out. Big difference in light color and intensity.

Installed the license plate light assemblies. Easy ten minute job. There are no installation instructions with the product so I referred to the Amazon product website which contains detailed procedure. Result is a bright white light illuminated license plate.

Out of all the lights that should've been LED from the factory, the reverse light is one that really bugs me as the rest of tail light is LED (on the Calligraphy trim) yet the reverse was left halogen.

Below you will find the tools and instructions needed to perform this awesome upgrade.

      Tools Needed:
      • Ratchet
      • 3 inch or longer extension
      • 10mm socket
      • Flat head screw driver
      • Plastic interior trim removal tool
      • Microfiber towel
      • 921 LED bulb(PURCHASE HERE)
      • Set of pliers (OPTIONAL)

      STEP 1
Open lift gate and locate the two bolt cover on the tail light

      STEP 2
Insert the flat head screw driver on the small opening of the cover. Located at the top.

      STEP 3
Applying little pressure move/tilt the screw driver upwards (See red arrows on photo below). This action will disengage the plastic clip and open the cover reveling the bolt.
NOTE: Be gentle in the movement as little to no force is required to pop open the cover.

      STEP 4
With both covers now open locate the two bolts and use your ratchet with the extension and the 10mm socket to undo the them.
NOTE: Be mindful of the tightness of bolts when putting everything back, the housing is plastic and the bolts do not need to be TOO tight.

      STEP 5
With both screws completely loose. Proceed to pry out the tail light using the plastic panel removal tool and the micro fiber towel.
You will wrap the micro fiber towel around the plastic panel removal tool. This will prevent your paint and tail light from getting scratched.
Applying medium force start prying out the tail light on the indicated points shown in photo below.
NOTE: When prying out the tail light you will need to listen for a POP sound. This will indicate that the tail light is now loose and use your hands now to remove it.

NOTE 2: The two prying points shown above in the photos where enough in my installation to loosen up the tail light, your installation may vary and you may need to pry from additional points.

      STEP 8

Success you have made through the toughest part of the installation!
Now you can use your hands to SLIDE the tail light out. (See red arrows on photo below)

      STEP 9
      Locate the reverse light socket

      STEP 10
Grab and twist the socket out of the housing.
NOTE: This is where you can use the pliers to get more toque and twist the socket out. Be gentle and dont put too much pressure on the plier as it can crack the plastic socket.

      STEP 11
With the socket out go ahead and pull the halogen bulb off the socket and place the 921 LED.
NOTE: Please test you installation before putting everything back.

NOTE 2: Be careful when inserting the socket back with the LED as it may require some maneuvering in order to make it go in

      COMPARISON PHOTO LED VS HALOGEN

      STEP 12
Enjoy your bright lights and improved visibility when reversing at night.

Can I assume that this bulb will fit a 2020 model?

FYI I just tried this and it worked perfectly.

I used these per the recommendations: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072FHNZKW/

One hint that i'll give is that the pry bar motion is to pull the entire rear light assembly backwards / away from front of car in a straight motion parallel to car's lines / ground - you aren't prying the red lens up and away so be careful- slowly pull housing backward away from front of the car and the fastener posts will gently unclick and it will slide backwards. Use whole hand to pull the assembly after just a tiny bit of prying...

In picture in daylight LED on left incandescent on right... Visually its a huge difference the bright white LED looks modern and current and the yellow incandescent looks dated.
