Brought an N-Line Home

I may have mentioned at some point that I was going to get an Elantra GT N-Line.

Well, here we are are. Saw a used '18 Elantra GT Sport at my local dealer, but when I got there, I decided I wasn't going to compromise again. I wanted the N-Line, so I got it. Fully loaded.

It came down to this and the '16+ GTI. I drove an '18 GTI SE last year, and didn't really feel it. I drove a '16 Autobahn over the weekend, and as nice as it seemed... it didn't really speak to me at all. Just not my kind of car. The DSG was surprising, too, as it's supposed to be a superior dual-clutch transmission. Yet, even in Sport mode, it's laggier than Hyundai's Ecoshift.

Summit Gray is a more impressive color than pictures would show, especially in the sun. There's a lot of metallic in it.

I don't have interior photos, yes, but it's pretty much the same and the photos on Hyundai's site will suffice.

Any questions, feel free to ask!

Don't want to be a negative person, but why a top end N-line and not the N proper?

I live in the US. We don't the i30N, we get the Veloster N instead.

Also, an accident damaged my left foot enough that any kind of traffic jam or long drive will tire out my left foot and make it stiffen up. Plus I prefer the GT, so that's why I'm not in a Veloster.

Congrats. Love the new design and the NLine. As everyone else, wish we had the i30N....I wouldn't have my Sonata 2.0T if we got the i30N

You gonna be trippin someone out who sees your car and who knows about i30s!! If I ever saw an i30 badge I would be talking to the driver asking how they got that thing across "the pond".

It's a great conversation starter! Though I always open with the fact that only in NA, is it known as the Elantra GT. Everywhere else in the world, it's the i30. Especially when you consider the fact that the sedan and hatchback are not the same platform.

Was glad to see the rubber mats from my sedan fit the GT perfectly, though. Don't have to re-buy.

Just a small update: about to take it on it's first long trip (180-ish miles) so I'll be passing my first 1,000 miles on the car.

It just keeps getting better, and improving. I only wish they had stiffened up the mounts and given this steering calibration, to my partner's '18 Sport. Especially since the '18s have a bit more wheelhop, and the DCT calibration isn't quite as smooth, though still very good. I haven't driven both cars back-to-back yet, but I plan to, soon. So I can highlight anecdotal opinions and observations in the differences between the '18 Sport and '19 N-Line.

I already have the intercooler resonator delete sitting on my desk, may tackle that in the next few weeks.
