Try the newer version of Android Auto. You need to go into the AA settings on your phone and enable it. I just tried it this morning in my ELantra. ANd for the most part, I like the changes they made with how things work with the touchscreen in the car.
All the cars I have driven, while traveling, will shift on it's own at some point to avoid damaging the transmission when in manual mode. So if the rpms get too high it shifts up. And then it will shift down to first gear when stopping. My Value Edition has always done this as well.

Yes. I see it looks like the outer two are low beams and the inner two are high beams. But those are also LEDs. And most cars I notice with factory LED headlights have multiple light sources.
