2017 Sonata

My radio also just went off by itself, the screen was frozen and was un responsive, couldn’t turn the radio back on then the screen went blank, after 30 minutes the radio worked fine but my Bluetooth had to be paired again, dealer could not reproduce the issue but said the system rebooted itself, told to bring it in if it goes out totally
Anyone else had this happen and what did the dealer do?

I have a 2017 with 66,000 miles on it and have had the screen lock up or go black 3 times and cannot make any changes to radio, apps etc.

All 3 times pulled over and shut off the car, open and close the door and restart and it clears. ive never taken it in to the dealership for this problem.

Its like voodoo or some sort a healing ritual. You walk around the car three times too? Oh and was this at a red light?

I had this problem years ago with my 2009 Hyundai Genesis. No audio. Stop at gas station or 7-11 for five minutes or so, then restart car. Everything would work. Seen the same problem on the Genesis forums.

I guess Hyundai and Genesis still has not corrected problem.

BTW, my 2015 Sonata does NOT has this problem however my other Brand-X does something similar. My Brand-X Screen will sometimes be blank plus no audio on startup, however after 10 seconds to two minutes later, (after boot-up????) everything comes on. Don’t have to shut car off.

Ahhh. Technology.

No not a "ritual".
Just turning off the car and restarting it does not disconnect the bluetooth or turn off everything. Just like when you shutoff the car and the radio continues until you open the door. Shut off, remove key and open the door completes turning every thing off or disconnects everything is how it was explained to me with my Infiniti.

1 time my G37s did a similar thing, locked up the nav screen and would not allow anything to be changed, I turned it off and restarted it and same problem, called my service writer at the dealer (the one good thing about the Lux Brands like Infiniti, Lexus, MBZ, BMW is they usuall assign you a contact person for customer service at your dealer) and he had me shut off, remove key and open and close the door and it cleared.
