What is wrong with 191 hp out of a normally aspirated 4 cyl engine?

Look at his profile.... double barreled 2.0T owner

The 2.5T will supposedly become available in <year after its release.

So, you either take the 2.5 or 1.6T, or you wait for the 2.5T.

hp dont mean a lot. torque is what gets the car moving, and stuff like lotsa torque at low rpm, torque curve, etc is what you should be concerned with. case in point, the elantra eco(1.4t 128hp) is quicker 0-60 than the na 147 hp. why? look at the torque figures. 1.4/156ft/lbs at 1300 rpm, vs na, 2.0/147hp, but only 132 ft/[email protected] so, in traffic, at speeds below 60-70 mph, the eco will be quicker. why? 156 ft/lbs from 1300 rpm, plus, the hi torque stays hi till around 4500 rpm. the na you gotta scream the revs to 4500 to get to max torque, by then the eco is gone. maybe the younger crowd likes to drive around above 4500 rpm, but even with our 2016's measly hp, we rarely rev the engine above 4500. fi motors generally produce way more torque than na, at way lower rpms, and have much broader torque curves.

Oh i see what hes saying. They were pretty clear they were reworking the higher performance turbo four and it wouldnt be out at the start of the 2020 sales cycle. Im sure they will have it in by mid cycle though. 191hp is still a great number along with the fuel economy it can get as well. And the eight speed auto will be nice behind it.

I saw an article yesterday that we'll see a N spec version with 275 horsepower sometime after launch. Here's the article; https://www.motor1.com/news/345238/h...ine-confirmed/

They are easily capable of well over 300hp as is, im just guessing that the hold up is designing the port injection into the exisiting turbo system design. As well as any new parts for the 2.5 to turbo setup.

Agreed. if the YF 2.0T was 275 a new 2.5T should easly top 300 if they wanted to.

I’m saying if you want to compete in the class with the Camry and Accord which Hyundai definitely does. People like me are disappointed that the best Sonata has to offer can barely beat base models of both vehicles in torque or horsepower. If you read the reviews it’s definitely a huge letdown.
