I would like to know if anyone has done this - can you keep the steering wheel controls? I see on ebay uk there are faceplate adapters so must be being done.

see that it has SiRF STAR III High Sensitive GPS. then the GPS should be good.

This is quite an attractive car add-on. There are chances of attracting some unwanted attention, especially in public parking lots or street parking.
A good display unit would be one that rolls back into the dashboard, so that when the car is parked no thief can get tempted.

Is there such a piece?

Im sure it is in the UK - if it isnt it should be!

in the FAQ at the bottom of the page

When I play a DVD, there's a warning on the screen and the movie does not play. What's wrong? In many countries it is prohibited by law to have DVD/Movies playing while the vehicle is in motion to prevent the driver from being distracted and causing an accident. The solution is to connect the wire named "Brake" or "Parking" to the vehicle's brake circuit or simply connect the wire to the negative (GND) to bypass this safety feature.

I think its illegal for the reason you have stated, its distracting. If I'm right its not a very good idea to post a way round it is it?

As to why your DVD wont play.......I have a home DVD player now but before that I played them on my computer, and had the same problem you have, except in my case the quality was so bad it was unwatchable, protected copyright or something, it thought i was trying to copy it. I found a program that got round it!
