Question Fitting a Trailer Hitch to a GT?

I tried to have a trailer hitch installed on my 2015 Elantra GT. I just came back from U-Haul and they told me that there is a box in the way keeping them from mounting the trailer to the frame. I looked underneath the car just left of the fuel tank and there is a plastic box with cables and possibly hoses coming from it. The installer who's been doing these for years had no idea what it was and couldn't detach it. He was also afraid of breaking something.

Has anyone successfully installed a hitch to a 2015 GT? What is the box and how do I get around this?

The box shown below?
That is the charcoal canister for the fuel tank purge system. Since all Elantra have one my guess is they have the wrong towbar/hitch for your model of car.

my 2013 has a trailer hitch, and I have my charcoal canister in the same place. I can't imagine anything was done differently in that section of the car from 2013-2015. Your installer either doesn't know what they're doing or they have the wrong part. I can take pictures underneath my car if it helps you out at all!

Print out the above instructions. Hopefully your local u-haul hacks can figure it out.

Motto for advice giving on a forum: You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

Sad country is where most neutered men can't change a tire or use a tire PSI gauge, can't check their engine oil or even pop their hood.

TrollBots are everywhere. Paid trolls are easy to spot in the 'off topic' forums everywhere.

Those who say it cannot be done, should not interrupt the person doing it.

Wrong hitch. When you are selling trailer hitches as a major profit item, make it fit, right or wrong.

I have seen some good U-Haul installs, and some real butcher jobs.
